Resizing a layout to fit your photo

What are your options when your photo is too small to fit in the opening of a pre-designed layout? Here I resized the layout until the photo opening was the right size. I still wanted to have the overall size of the layout to be 12×12 so I just inserted a digital paper from the CD and made it the background.
